Supergirl Official Teaser Trailer

Well, they hyped this up for a few weeks now but it’s now here. Our first look at the upcoming Supergirl movie from DC and Warner Bros. James Gunn is giving us Kara Zor El cousin of Kal El and wow she is going through some stuff here. Let’s watch the trailer and get back to it.

I like what I’m seeing here. Kara clearly is troubled and we see why. Kal-El was a baby that got jettisoned as the planet Krypton was being destroyed. But Kara was there to see it and old enough to understand the destruction that was happening around her. We’re going to see the relationships she had with her family and the ultimate loss of all of that. Let’s not go judging her actions without considering what she’s gone through. Milly Alcock is really giving us a version of Kara we haven’t really seen before. Yeah she’s got some severe PTSD but she’s not going with the “Oh I’m new to this world and scared of it.” I’m betting this version barely blinked at being put in a new world and just said, cool, yeah, can I get a drink. It’s different and I’m here for it.

Now I won’t deny there’s a Guardians of the Galaxy feel here a bit with the planet hopping but that area exists in the DCU and we’ve yet to see it from the mind of James Gunn. I trust that he won’t lean too heavily on past works depicting that are but it kind of looks like he is with the different aliens, and what is most assuredly Jason Momoa playing the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. Now if he and Kara start throwing hands you may wanna get very far away. We also see Krem of the Yellow Hills played by Matthias Schoenaerts who is apparently responsible for the death of the father of Ruthye Marye Knoll  played by Eve Ridley, a character introduced in the comics back in 2022. Oh and Krypto is back too. I love that dog.

Supergirl is set to debut in the U.S. June 26th 2026. It will be directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Ana Nogueira, and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. And remember, don’t look up, look out.
