The new Dune movie just released some character posters as we get closer to the release of this long awaited film. Seems like forever but the film will be released first at the Venice International Film Festival on September 3rd 2021 and then theatrically and on HBO Max October 22, 2021. Based off the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert it tells the story of Paul Atreides as he rises to power on the planet Arrakis. It is said this movie will be more faithful to the source material as the one released in 1984 by director David Lynch, well, wasn’t so much. I’m eager to see one that is closer to the book mind you.
Dune was set to release November 2th, 2020 to give you an idea of how long this has taken. I for one have seen the tie in figures along with it come and go which is a shame. You have to have merch with a movie release not a year before. Curse you pandemic! There is some serios star power with this film though with Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Zendaya as Chani, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. Directed by Denis Villeneuve it has a runtime of 155 minutes and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Bring on the sand worms!
