Warner Bros. is moving forward with a Batgirl movie and all I can say is finally. We first heard inklings of this at SDCC 2015 but better late than never. And there is no better way to show you are going forth then casting the lead and we can now confirm that In the Heights actress Leslie Grace will be playing Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Deadline first confirmed the singer and actress had some stiff competition for the role as it was rumored Zoe Dutch, and Isabela Merced were also up for the role. The actress has since confirmed he casting in the roll with this Twitter post.
After a stellar and award-winning music career her transition to acting has only had her in the one starring role in In The Heights but she’s certainly made an impact. Batgirl is expected to go directly to HBO Max and will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah with a script written by Christina Hodson from Bumblebee. No release date has been set for a debut.
