Masters of the Universe Revelation Review

I have been excited for this series since we learned of it. I have anxiously waited for it and to top this off, it did not disappoint. As a continuation to the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe this is the continuation that series deserved. But was it any good? Absolutely. I thoroughly enjoyed the series, and it went far too fast, but it is Part 1.

First off, the story does not drag. It is well written, and it flows well. In fact, you need to pay attention closely because there is some good detail and throwbacks to the old series. This was written from the mind of someone who loves MOTU. And the main thing it accomplishes is it gives these characters depth. Not a lot of mind you because at times it does feel like it’s being rushed. They pack a lot in these episodes. They make it a point to bridge the gap between then and now.

The actors all do a fine job. I will note that if you think Adam/He-Man sounds a bit corny go watch the original series and they also find a good reason for this that after said out loud, it makes perfect sense. With Lean Heady, Mark Hamill, Tony Todd, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Conroy, Phil LaMarr, and Dennis Haysbert acting chops is the least of our worries.

Now I know I said the story is rushed but not in a bad way. We get in the car, turn it on, and go directly to our destination. Characters get development, there are stakes, and we get to our outcome. But with five episodes it seemed to fast. Especially considering this is part 1 and it ends in a cliffhanger. And I am left in suspense with no knowledge of when part 2 is coming.
Masters of the Universe is a nicely animated well written show that leaves you wanting more. You will binge it in less than a day and it will leave you wanting more. I enjoyed it and hope that even after part 2 we see more of this franchise on Netflix.
