The success of Detective Pikachu in 2019 can not be denied. I loved the movie personally, but you have to factor in the Pokémon fandom. People loved seeing Pokémon in CGI form and the movie did it very well. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone capitalized on this and it looks like Netflix is stepping up.
Variety reports that Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson is attached to the project and to write and executive produce. Lucifer recently announced they would be ending their run with their sixth season so this would free him up to pursue this. Netflix does currently air episodes of various Pokémon series so this would be the place for it and we have seen a number of live action anime series air on the streaming service.
There are no confirmations from any of the parties listed and considering the level of work for this it may be a while before we get confirmation. But keep it hear for when it does get announced.
