Venom: Let there be Carnage Review
First off, I got to watch this movie at my local Alamo Draft House so welcome back guys I have missed you. Don’t forget my cookies next time. But starting off this review I must say I enjoyed the Venom sequel. But not only did this movie deliver on a good sequel it established itself. You’ll need to read the spoilers after the review for that.
Taking place three years after the events of the first movie Eddie and Venom are having a rough go of the relationship. But if you stayed till the end of the first film you saw the introduction of Cletus Kasady. The serial killer destined to become Carnage. After bringing Eddie and Venom back into his twisted world Cletus gets his own symbiote from Venom and the murder begins again. So now Eddie and Venom must work together to keep, well everyone from dying.
Storyline this movie is written okay. There’s a lot of humor between Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom. Even better when you consider Tom is doing the voce of Venom as well. Eddie is about as unconventional as a hero as you can get. The constant reminder in this film is Eddie is a complete screw up. Seriously the constant with this guy is he messes everything up. Even Venom wants to do more in life while Eddie just watches everything fall apart around him. The sequel is really the story of the lead character trying to get his crap together after screwing up yet again.
Woody Harrelson who plays Carnage is twisted and sick and let me tell you he should be. As a big time comic reader, the character Carnage was terrifying. That kind of crazy with that kind of power behind it is a multiple hero event and I recommend going and reading Maximum Carnage when you get the chance. Woody Harrelson gave this character some depth but didn’t humanize him and that was spot on storytelling. I have to say it’s a crime if we don’t get to revisit this character in this universe again.
The supporting cast also does well with Michelle Williams returning to the role of Anne, Eddie’s ex fiancée. She’s funny, stern, and plays her part very well. Naomie Harris who plays Frances Barrison/Shriek is Cletus’s crazy love interest with a sonic scream ability. And if you know about symbiotes you know that’s an interesting relationship because sonics are not something they like. And lastly Stephen Graham plays a detective in the move trying to piece all this together but you comic fans may recognize that name.
Overall Venom is a decent film. Director Andy Serkis has certainly done a fantastic job. But like I said before, it establishes itself this time around. And I say that without giving any spoilers, yet. I give it 4 stars out of 5. Worth your ticket money if you’re going to the theaters this weekend. Oh, and stay till the credits roll.

So. some spoilers. First off, the cop played by Stephen Graham well that’s a character in the comics know as Toxin. I’m not entirely sure about the sparkly eyes.
Yes that is a copy of the Daily Bugle you saw being read. And there seems to be a headline that says “Avengers lose to Nightmare” Nightmare is speculated to be in Dr. Strange 2.
As far as the post credits scene well Dr. Strange and Peter Parker cast a spell that is going to rupture our universe. I think some may have merged together on that scene though. Guess we’ll have to wait for Spider-Man No Way Home.
