Hard to believe 39 years have passed since the 1987 Master of the Universe movie hit theaters. And there have been multiple rumors, start stops, and abandoned attempts to make another. Once one of the most popular toy brands ever dominated the toys shelves and your Saturday mornings but when the first movie came out, the line was declining. Somehow, I’ve lived long enough to write this story because finally, and I demanded actual proof, we have a new Masters of the Universe movie releasing in theaters June 5th, 2026. I’m serious guys here’s the trailer.
See? It’s real this time. I’m of course kidding. We’ve been talking about this on the show for a while and even with the leaked images I said I would believe it when I saw it. And I have seen the trailer, and I have to say this looks amazing.
Oh yeah sure it’s easy for a Gen X baby like me to be enamored by a ton of fan service and flash. But honestly that’s what’s working. If you watch Alternate Heads and you should watch it Wednesdays on the Geeks have Game channel, Bobby and I were saying that that’s exactly what we need in a Master of the Universe movie. This thing delivered on it from that first shot of the Sorceress as Zoar flying through Eternia to the last shot of Skeletor opening his maw at the end. And for you MOTU fans there were tons of Easter Eggs in there as well. From Vikor holding the Power Sword, to Adam’s pink shirt I am feeling some love in this trailer.
Travis Knight is directing this ride, and I will always respect this man for his work on Bumblebee. Nicholas Galitzine will be taking on the role of Adam Glenn our lost Prince who also can transform into the most powerful man in the universe He-Man. Veteran actor Idris Elbatakes on the role of Duncan/Man at Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela Captain of the guard and Duncan’s daughter. Okay now work with me guys, Jared Leto is playing the role of Skeletor and I know what a lot of you are saying, and yes I may have said it too but let’s let this man do his job and hope for the best. Alinson Brie will be playing Evelyn Powers/ Evil-Lyn. Morena Baccarin is playing the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull.
Okay I’ve got faith. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I have to say it’s about time. Masters of the Universe hits theaters June 5th, 2026
