Great news for fans of Star Trek and the Kelvin timeline as director Matt Shakman has been announced as the next director for the franchise. Deadline is reporting that the director who’s credits include Ugly Betty, The Boys, and WandaVision will be taking the helm for the fourth installment of the franchise.
Expected to premiere sometime in June 2023 the series has been bogged down with getting traction on another movie with rumors of contract negotiations, the horrid covid timeline we live on, and on the heels of the lowest grossing movie of the franchise. A new writer Noah Hawley began a new script in 2019 and there was a litany of rumors as to why the film was placed on hold. But it would appear that we’ve moved past that and there’s even a rumor the cast will be returning to their roles in the previous films. And yes we miss you Anton, and you’re gone but not forgotten.
Look for more news as it breaks and I’m sure it’s going to be coming very quickly as we’re burning daylight to get this done. Can’t wait to see what Mr. Shakman can do with this movie.
