I didn’t come around to Cobra Kai till it was on Netflix. There I said it okay. I was late to the party. Over the course of a week though I binged it all last season. I was surprised at how good the show was. The writing and acting is really top notch and yes, I saw the original Karate Kid. But fear not fans of this show. The announcement for Season 4 is hare and it’s coming this December. The Twitter Netflix account made the official announcement.
The last season ended with long time rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) uniting their students, maybe, to take on John Kreese’s (Martin Kove) Cobra Kai dojo. The last season was building up to the All-Valley tournament returning after being banned and now Kreese agrees to leave them alone should Johnny and Daniel win the tournament. You can see in the trailer much of the cast will be returning including. Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand), and Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo).
Seeing the success of this series that first premiered on YouTube I’m happy to see the success they have achieved. Especially since it was able to be picked up on Netflix after YouTube ended its YouTube Red program. Netflix is a perfect outlet for a show like this. And yes, as a kid that did that crane kick a bunch of times I’m glad we can bring this universe to audiences again. Can’t wait to revisit a series that still has the feel of that eighties movie.
