It’s no secret that I (Nathan) love MCU figures. I actually prefer them over comic figs. Nothing against comic figures, but I love the movies and the overall realism they put into the sculpts, paint, and designs. It just speaks to me and says, you want these super detailed figures at an amazing price!
This past year, the Marvel Legends team announced they’d be going back and would be giving us some much needed characters from the Infinity Saga. Fans, like myself and Jason, rejoiced as they announced characters we’ve been asking for and characters we had no idea we wanted or thought would ever be made. Those figures are listed below.
1. Iron Man Mark 3 2. Captain America from Avengers: Infinity War (Walmart Exclusive) 3. Quicksilver from Avengers: Age of Ultron 4. Final Battle Thor from Avengers: Endgame 5. Odin from Thor 6. Surtur from Thor: Ragnorok 7. Obadiah Stane and Iron Monger Armor from Iron Man 8. Captain Marvel and Pepper Potts Rescue Armor from Avengers: Endgame (Amazon Exclusive) 9. Happy Hogan and Iron Man Midas Armor from Iron Man 3 (Target Exclusive) 10. Iron Man Mark 85 and Thanos from Avengers: Endgame
While these figures are currently hitting shelves, this got me wanting even more MCU figures. Granted, I don’t have to wait long with the upcoming Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and What If? figures on the way. But those are NEW figures and properties. What about more from the old movies? What about more characters and missed opportunities? Isn’t that the point of the Infinity Saga wave? I believe we should get another set of figures since the Hasbro team did this twice now, once with the 10th Anniversary figures and now Infinity Saga. So, if we were to get another wave, what figures would I personally want? A lot. But that’s not the point of this exercise. First off, I’m restricting myself to a similar release of the Infinity Saga figures. I’ll do 10 total, some as singles, two packs, and deluxe releases. However, I won’t be assigning exclusives, even though we all know those are inevitable, but I may mention which would most likely be an exclusive release.
1. Iron Man Mark 6 from Iron Man 2
We all know how much the Hasbro team loves Iron Man. I’m no exception. I will gladly take every armor ever. Especially from the MCU. With the Infinity Saga’s release of the Mark 3, this seems like a no brainer. The Mark 6 made an appearance in both Iron Man 2 and Avengers. This armor was also the first one to have a triangle arc reactor and was just an amazing armor. We have gotten a figure of it in the past (released before I started collecting but I do own it) and while I think the figure holds up, it’s definitely outdate in both articulate but especially scale. We need a new Mark 6 to add to our wall of armors!
2. Captain America from Captain America: The First Avenger
This is another case of a previously released figure in desperate need of a make over. I understand people are split on Cap’s earlier outfits but I personally loved his final first suit. It was a perfect mix of modern with that World War II flair. Unfortunately, the figure we got, was not. The figure which first came out during the film’s release, then was re-rereleased during Captain America: The Winter Soldier, just doesn’t hold up. It’s not well sculpted, especially in the face, and needs a huge improvement on the articulation. We’ve gotten so many Captain America MCU figures, as well as a updated face sculpts with some not so great bodies. (I’m looking at you Endgame wave with the original Avengers Cap). To me, this suit is Iconic to the character. He even wore it twice as his final battle suits! Not to mention, Hasbro has perfected their Captain America Shield accessory so that’s an easy re use with no complaints. Walmart seems to have an obsession with Captain America, (Endgame, Venomized, Infinity War, and Walker), so I can easily see this one as an exclusive to them.
3. Hawkeye from Avengers: Age of Ultron
Is it me or does Hawkeye just not get the love he deserves? I get it, he’s a normal dude with a less flashy costume and technically no powers. BUT IT’S HAWKEYE! I love this character and he just doesn’t seem to get the love he deserves in toy form. He’s been in 5 films (OK, 4 and a cameo) and he’s appearing in What If? and has his own series coming! I fully expect we’ll get him in a Disney Plus wave along with Kate Bishop in the future but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get a new figure of his past costumes. Hawkeye has had a figure made three times. First was an old figure with the first Avengers movie. This figure, in my opinion, still holds up. The likeness is there and the figure is well sculpted. It’s articulation isn’t the best but it’s not terrible. I’d be happy with an update on that one in the legs and face but it’s unlikely we’d get it (It was also re-released with an Avengers: Age of Ultron wave). Second and third are with Endgame. He got his own figure as Ronin but it didn’t come with a Renner face sculpt (Still an amazing figure) and he came in a two pack with Black Widow and 3 different heads in the Time Travel Suit (Not even slightly screen accurate but I wasn’t complaining at the time). That’s it. He had some amazing suits in both Age of Ultron and Civil War, but we never got to see them in plastic form. This would be an amazing opportunity to show Hawkeye some love and perfect that head sculpt for his upcoming new figure. I DEMAND MY BOW AND ARROW MAN!
4. Korath from Guardians of the Galaxy
This was both an easy choice and a tough one. I knew I wanted to add a character from the Guardians movies to this list, and while there are plenty to choose from that aren’t the main cast, I had to pick just one for this list. I decided we should go with Korath from the first movie. This may be influenced by his recent appearance in What If? but it helped me make the decision. While I would also like characters like Stakar, Kraglin, or Ayesha, Korath just gives me another space character that I could put into two different displays! Loved him on both the big and small screen and he would be a welcome addition to my Marvel Legends collection!
5. Kaecilius from Doctor Strange
This was another tough choice to make. There are so many characters from the Doctor Strange movie that I’d like to add to my collection. I want Wong, an updated Mordo, or the Ancient One. But each of those characters (with the exception of the Ancient One) will have more appearances in upcoming movies such as Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, so I have to have hope they’ll be made eventually. What my decision boiled down to is we need more villains. Kaecilius was an awesome villain and was just so overwhelmingly powerful. He had such a simple, yet unique, design and I’ve been wanting him for years in toy form.
6. Abomination Deluxe Figure from either The Incredible Hulk or onward
Another BIG bad to add to the list. Now this one is a bit tricky. I’ve wanted an updated Abomination for several years. We’ve gotten one in the past with the release of The Incredible Hulk but that figure isn’t exactly great. It has a terrible sculpt, bad articulation, and is way to small. It scales well with the Hulk figure we got back then but not with the current line of figures. I picked Abomination since he just a big boy from our only Hulk movie. Now, this one is tricky because he was announced to be in the upcoming She-Hulk series but he also surprised everyone with his cameo in the upcoming Shang-Chi movie! Not only was the cameo a surprise but he has an updated look to match! I tried to keep this list to figures of the past but while I want an updated figure, I also want his new appearance (even more so than his old one). Ultimately, I just need an MCU Abomination.
7. Thor and Malekith 2 pack from Thor: The Dark World
There has been no shortage of complaints on the second Thor movie. My friends tell me all the time how much they dislike this movie. I, however, loved it. I’m personally not a fan of the first Thor movie but that’s not really the point of the article. There are so many characters in the Thor franchise that we need. In fact, there’s another Thor addition on this list. Now, there is something I should point out, we have gotten a Thor figure from Dark World already. It’s not a bad figure but it’d be nice if we got an updated version or even just a sleeveless version. Hasbro loves their reuse so it just makes sense to me they’d find a way to squeeze in a simple reuse figure. However, if they didn’t, I’d also accept a Jane figure instead. We are going to get a new Thor and Jane figure when they eventually release the Thor: Love and Thunder wave, so I’m not expecting too much on new sculpts for these guys, if a two pack was made. My big want is Malekith. I need more villains and space characters. Malekith is such a big deal in this franchise. Hell, they still talk about him killing Frigga in the series to date. I’ve had Malekith on my Legends wishlist for a while and a second wave of Infinity Saga figures is the best way to get him. That said, I understand Eccelston isn’t a fan of the series so our issue may be more on a rights side and I may never see this character in plastic form.
8. Whiplash and Iron Man Mark 5 two pack from Iron Man 2
Yes, another Iron Man 2 submission. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the biggest fan of this film but the designs are amazing! I’ll start with the obvious. I just want the suitcase armor. I love that design and it can even come with the briefcase we’ve gotten in the past but just repainted. I’m not sure if we’ve gotten him in the past but I definitely own this figure in black and gold. However, just like with the Mark 6, it’s an older figure in need of an update. I’m an Iron Man fan and I want all the armors. I’ll buy them all Hasbro! Now for Whiplash, again, this is a case of needing more villains. I used to own both these figures in 3.5 inches but I don’t collect that scale anymore. It’s time he got the Legends treatment. Now, I’d gladly take either design (but would prefer his first design more). If Hasbro wanted, they could go the big boy price route and do what they did with the recent release of Stane and Iron Monger by giving us his armored look. Either way, I’ll take it.
9. Ned and Shocker two pack from Spider-Man Homecoming
I’ve basically gotten every figure I’ve wanted from the previous Spider-Man films. BUT, I don’t own a Ned figure! We got M.J. but no Ned! It’s his best friend and a pretty important character in the franchise! Hell, we’re getting J.J. and he’s been in the series for 1 minute total! Here’s the thing, unfortunately, I don’t think Ned would be enough to get his own single release. So I see him best in a two pack. My best case scenario, is to get him with Shocker. I’ve always loved Shocker from the comics and tv shows so of course I want him in MCU Legends form. I was disappointed with the costume but if it’s the only thing I can get, I’ll take it. Unfortunately, I think this is less likely to happen because of how simple a design it is. Ned is a perfect choice but I can see Hasbro pairing him up with a re-released Spider-Man. Probably a repainted and dirty Homecoming suit Peter. (I’ll take it, mine broke). I can see this two pack being a Target exclusive. M.J. was and the upcoming Vulture re-release is so it fits right in.
10. The Warriors Three from ANY Thor Movie
Alright guys, final figures on the list. While Thor isn’t my favorite franchise, even I acknowledge the importance of these guys. They were in every Thor movie! Why haven’t we gotten them in Legends?! Make it a three pack, package them together, and I’ll happily display them next to Thor and Lady Sif! Their screen time may have decreased in each passing Thor movie but they were still there! This one is a no brainer. I can see this one being exclusive to Amazon.
There you go! That’s my wish list for a second wave of MCU Infinity Saga figures. Do you guys agree? Any characters you’d like to see? Let me know! Look our for more of my wish list figures articles to come!
