The Matrix Resurrections Trailer

Time to take that red pill again. Hard to believe the last Matrix movie was released in 2003. Since then the Wachowskis have repeatedly denied they would ever revisit the franchise. Warner Bros. began development in 2017 with one of the siblings attached for the film and now we have our first trailer for The Matrix Resurrections.

Okay gathering from the trailer we can surmise our hero Neo, ahem, I mean Thomas Anderson is discussing his mental issues with Neil Patrick Harris and it looks like he’s been led to believe all of the actions of the previous three movies were some type of delusion. There’s plenty of imagery from the first film with glitches and it looks like Neo has been receiving a steady dosage of blue pills. But after once again a man in round shades and a trench coat, played by actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, gives him a red pill the fun begins.

Returning from previous films will be of course Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. New cast members include the previously mentioned Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, Jessica Henwick, and Ellen Hollman. The film was also written by David Mitchell, Aleksander Hemon, and Lana Wachowski who will also produce and direct.

This will be the final film to debut in theaters and HBO Max by Warner Bros. The Matrix Resurrections will release on HBO Max and in theaters December 22nd, 2021.
