If you’ve seen Spider-Man: No Way Home, you may already have seen this. Yes, this time around the post credits scene was a full-on teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to debut in theaters May 6th. Let’s face facts here, the doc here has been through some rough times what with Infinity War, getting blinked out of existence, and then almost catastrophic consequences in the latest Spider-Man movie. I was vague on purpose and you’re welcome. Let’s check out that trailer.
I mean, he was warned that a bill would one day be due. In fact if you watched the What If.. series you may see exactly how bad it can get. What I’m more excited for is that we’re seeing the implications of things like the Multiverse helping to forward the depth of the MCU. I’m thinking the wheels are off for how things can happen now and with the latest Hawkeye episodes and the new Spider-Man movie, well to be the Kronk meme, oh yeah it’s all coming together.
Also shown in the teaser were America Chavez played by Xochitl Gomez. America Chavez is super strong, can fly, and kick open star shaped holes in reality. Something that clearly play into the Multiverse storyline. Also, in the trailer I’m pretty sure Shuma-Gorath is attacking Strange on the streets of New York. His presence alone indicates a high level of threat as this demon is supposedly omnipotent and ancient with the power to destroy galaxies. So, no pressure or anything.
Sam Raimi will direct with a script written by Jade Halley Bartlett and Michael Waldron. Returning to the film are Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo. Also starring in the film are Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and the previously mentioned America Chavez as Xochitl Gomez. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be in theaters May 6th, 2022.
