So the second movie based on the novel series The Meg has dropped it’s first trailer for Meg 2:The Trench. Now the first movie was good. Not great mind you but I enjoyed it. Looking at this trailer for the sequel, I’m not convinced to see this in the theater. But hey let’s check it out.
I remember reading Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror back right before I joined the Navy. It was my book of choice as I was flying off to Chicago for basic training. It was a good read, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was getting a motion picture. And honestly the movie was worth a watch, and it did a good job at the box office bringing in 530 million worldwide. But the ratings basically had it as a passable movie. I didn’t see it in theaters, I saw it after it made it to streaming. So, a movie that I didn’t pay for was okay. I knew for a fact there was a sequel to the book, which was okay, not as good as the first but okay. But now we have an okay book being made into a movie where the trailer looks kind of a mess. The first movie had two sharks well now the stakes are higher cause there’s, wait for it, three sharks!
It’s not like me to crap on a movie based on the trailer. Well, it is I just don’t write about it. But this looks terrible. The CGI sharks look okay but everything else just looks like they took the first film and decided to do a little bit more. Does this look like a movie I want to see in the theater, no. I’ll wait. Because the whole purpose of the trailer is to get me vested in watching and after that first one, I can’t see it. But mind you, this is my opinion. This may be the best movie ever and I’m just some guy on the internet making my own judgement that ends up being wrong. Not like that ever happened.
