Well, the strike is over and that means we can go back to talking about films, tv, and the entertainment industry. Congrats writers and actors, you fought a good fight. But that aside the Ghostbusters Afterlife movie was excellent and one of my favorite films of the year. Of course the film left it open for a sequel and I think this is the right direction for this franchise. But before we get into it let’s check out the forst teaser trailer for the upcoming film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
That was positively chilling. I’m here all week folks. But yes this has that darker tone that the previous film had. And once again our Ghostbusters team is facing a mass event that looks to wipe out everything. The official synopsis reads.
“In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family decide to leave Summerville, Oklahoma and go back to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – and help the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level! But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes a mysterious and evil force, known as the Death Chill, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a deadly and unpredictable fate that unknowingly, could affect earth’s history with a second Ice Age.”
Loving what I’m seeing so far and for the strike to end and this release on the same day makes for a good day. This is what Ghostbusters should be at this stage. The old guard bringing in the new that will carry this franchise forward. Now I know there’s no harder blockade to this than fans themselves but the positive reactions to the previous film give me hope. But even this trailer has that feel of Ghostbusters. And it is good to see the original cast members but time can be very cruel and we have to accept change if we want things to continue. I can’t wait to see the training montage for our new Ghostbusters.
Scheduled for release March 29th,2024 the film was written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan and Kenan will be taking on directing duties. The film stars Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson, Mckenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler, Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler, Celeste O’Connor as Lucky Domingo, Logan Kim as Podcast, Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz, Ernie Hudson as Dr. Winston Zeddemore, Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, and William Atherton as Walter Peck.
