The rumors have been running rampant about the next generation of the Nintendo Switch. It’s going to be bigger; it’s going to run 4K video, it’s going to come with a pet monkey. Okay I made that last one up. But after a few years of talk we’re finally shown the new Nintendo Switch so let’s take a look at the announcement and then talk about it.
Time for an upgrade! Okay, before we get too excited let try to look into what specs we can reasonably confirm now. We did have a leak that the Switch 2 would be powered by a Nvidia Tegra T239 processor. We’re also looking at a new screen going from 6.2 to 7.8 inches. Joy-Cons also got upsized and a change in how they connect looking like it’s instead using magnets for the connection. I love the new prop bar as well as the old one was a bit flimsy, and this one offers more positions. We can also see the addition of two USB ports. Look for official specs when the Switch 2 makes it’s debut sometime in 2025.

A Nintendo Direct is coming to share more details about this new console Wednesday April 12th, 2025. Also, there will be several events at select cities called the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience. You will need a Nintendo Account to attend, and tickets can be registered for here when available.

I love my Switch and play it regularly but I’m happy to get a larger one for my hands. Also the quality of life improvements are sensible. I’m betting this will be out right around the November timeframe for those holiday sales. Can’t wait to preorder this thing.
