No, it is not 1996 and I’m not a time traveler coming from a long-forgotten time to remind you of a franchise’s humble beginnings. But instead good nerds we’re doing Scream again, in 2022. It has been 25 years since Wes Craven’s masterpiece hit the silver screen and reminded us what true fear is. But now a new team will be delivering an all new installment, but some familiar faces will be coming back. Check out the trailer.
I know we’re calling it Scream but seriously can we just say Scream, please? A synopsis reveals that “A new installment of the ‘Scream’ horror franchise will follow a woman returning to her hometown to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.” And yes, that woman is Neve Campbell returning to the role of Sidney Prescott. Also returning will be Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley, and returning to the role of the voice of Ghostface will be Roger L. Jackson. Did you know he was also Mojo Jojo in the Powerpuff Girls? Not so scary now right? The script was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busiek. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct the film.
Either way it looks like Ghostface has adapted with the times in his pursuit of murdering. The film is set to debut January 14th, 2022 from Paramount Pictures. Here’s hoping for a new generation of terror.
