We are well within the James Gunn era of the DCEU and now we get a longer look at the upcoming Superman movie. Keep in mind the purpose of a trailer is to build anticipation, and I will leave it at that. Let’s check it out.
I have a number of problems with the Superman character and honestly this movie takes those head on. He’s a good man that wants to do the right thing and has the power to do so but when does protecting turn in to keeping? He is getting his ass kicked a lot in here, but we are seeing the “Super” part of the man several times. But the thing about Superman I’ve always loved is the hope aspect of Superman and that’s what I get from this trailer. There’s hope.
But there’s also a lot of super stuff happening that thanks to proper lighting and color I can see all of it. I know people liked Man of Steel but I’m tired of dark storytelling, visually dark I mean. But let the light shine in I am seeing colors in this Superman movie. The suit still has a New 52 feel to it and I don’t hate it at all. Also seeing Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mr. Terrific in these Justice Society suits is cool. The scenes where they were being shown showcased us what they are capable of and I think Mr. Terrific might end up being a fan favorite in this one. Also another look at Metamorpho using some of his powers and apparently he and Superman are in some sort of cell together. The trailer has brought the hype and I think DC fans really needed something to wow them and bring them back in.
