Black Widow Review

Finally after many delays, Black Widow has hit theaters and what a way to start Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Taking place not long after Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is an Avenger on the run and is looking for some quiet time. But when you are an Avenger, quiet does not last long. A few events happen that reunite her with her sister, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who is on the run from General Dreykov (Ray Winston), Taskmaster (Who is able to mimic any fighting style they have watched) and a group of Black Widows from the fabled Red Room. Pugh steals every scene she is in, having almost as much screen time as Johansson, and is a great addition to the MCU. David Harbour and Rachel Weisz appear as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (Russia’s answer to Captain America) and Melina Vostokoff/Black Widow. The biggest surprise for me was how funny this movie was, with Pugh, Weisz, and Harbour really bringing lightheartedness to the film and just another great performance by Johansson. The movie has one of the best car chase scenes in all of the MCU involving Taskmaster, Romanoff, Belova and the Black Widows, the stunt coordinators really raised the bar here. I give the film 3.5 stars out of 5. Black Widow is out now in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access.
