Star Wars The Mandalorian movie to the Big Screen

It’s going to be a good year friend. The Mandalorian fulfilled one of the things I wanted for a long time and that was a live action Star Wars series. Here we are 5 years and 3 seasons later and it’s been announced The Mandalorian and Grogu are heading to the big screen.

Recently announced on StarWars.com Disney will be starting production on The Mandalorian and Grogu, a full length movie to begin production in 2024. The movie is set to be directed and produced by Jon Favreau along with Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy on production duty. Clearly they missed the other three seasons you need before making a movie but I’m going to overlook it because I love some Star Wars. When asked Jon Favreau said,

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created, the prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

Katheleen Kennedy was also quoted in the article with,

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”

It’s been a few years for Star Wars properties on the big screen so I think putting an established success like Mandalorian is a safe move before releasing others with a new movie based on Rey restarting the Jedi order on the horizon, another project from Dave Filoni and James Mangold’s set thousands of years in the Star Wars past. No release date yet for any of the projects but with the strike over it was a no brainer for these projects to get started again soon. Can’t wait for what the future of Star Wars looks like.
