Kat and Kas’ Spooky October Horror Bonanza Night 7 Review: No One Gets Out Alive

No One Gets Out Alive is a truly modern horror movie…because it’s about the horrors of millennial housing.

The movie is centered around Ambar (sic), an undocumented immigrant from an unnamed country, being paid under the table. When trouble comes knocking she has virtually no one she can turn to.

The movie definitely is from the perspective of the main character, so many points in the movie feel almost circumstantial. Just a girl in the big city doing her best while being hunted by a bunch of moth ghosts. Average Saturday night at my place.

The acting in this movie is among the best we’ve seen from a low budget movie. The lead, Cristina Rodlo, feels fresh and relevant. The visual shots of ghosts are very effective, and there are a couple of other wonderful special effects throughout.

The lack of provided details about the lore can get frustrating through the middle, but (MINOR SPOILERS) the ending sticks the landing with a certain “gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss” energy that we definitely appreciate. And remember, just because your landlord might’ve murdered a lady doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve good manners.
