We’re All Going to the World’s Fair Review: Night 30

A somewhat baffling but interesting movie. There are a lot of elements that kind of work. The main character is really good. She’s believable throughout and her transitioning into an alter ego is an interesting ride.

I don’t really understand a lot about the guy that she’s in contact with. He’s empathetic and helpful as someone she can talk to, but the fact that it’s a guy who’s clearly an adult reaching out to and encouraging a young woman to send him videos of her sleeping is…not great. I don’t think they did enough to dissuade the us that he’s a little creepy at best and grooming at worst. He said he prayed for her and that makes it…different. Better? Worse?

There’s frequent use of zoom and other in-world cameras, and those sequences work pretty well, and several genuinely creepy scenes. There are a lot of shots that last too long, holding way past the point the information has been absorbed.

For an independent, very low budget movie, I thought it did a lot of things well. That said, unless you’re an indie horror buff, give this one a pass.
